The largest car-free urban area in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site — a dense maze of tanneries, workshops, souks and centuries-old houses. It rewards slow wandering more than any fixed itinerary, though a local guide for the first hour or two helps with orientation.
Leave the car at a guarded lot near one of the main gates (Bab Boujloud is the most common starting point) and continue on foot — no vehicles can enter the medina itself.
