Smaller and easier to navigate than Fes or Marrakech's medinas, Tangier's old town slopes down from the kasbah toward the port, mixing cafés with a long literary history — Tangier was a favourite base for a number of 20th-century writers. The Grand Socco square at its edge is a natural start or end point for a walk through.
From the medina it is a short drive out to Cap Spartel or along the coast toward Asilah if you want to continue exploring by car afterward.
